What do Moms REALLY Want for Mother's Day?

In 1914 the United States Congress designated the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day, and required that the President proclaim the holiday every year shortly before its arrival. While a Presidential Proclamation is nice, we know what moms REALLY want for Mother's Day this year. How do we know? Simple ... we asked! More than 50 moms responded to our question and the answers were sweet, funny, and surprisingly similar. Crunchy Raisin French Toast

Stuffed with Strawberries and Cream Cheese

Crunchy french toast fresh strawberries and cream cheese, make a great treat for any mom on Mother's Day!

Ingredients:
4 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 slices cinnamon raisin bread
2 cups crushed cereal flakes (corn, bran, etc) - We used Kashi 7 Whole Grain Flakes
1 cup whipped cream cheese
1 cup diced fresh strawberries
2 tsp powdered sugar
Oil

Directions:
Crack eggs into medium size shallow bowl, beat lightly with a fork. Add milk and vanilla and stir well.

The Gruene Lions Club is hosting its Second Annual Gruene Lions Safari! The Safari is a photo scavenger hunt competition where teams navigate the streets, rivers, parks, and historic places of New Braunfels and Gruene. Join us for our first big show day for the Summer Reading program. We will have shows at 10:30 a.m., 2:00 and 6:30 p.m.!
Where: Meeting Room at the NB Public Library
When: 10:30 AM (Shows also held at 2:00 pm & 6:30 pm)
Who: Kids!
How: Seating will be limited so families should plan to arrive early.

Where: McKenna Kids Museum
When: 11:00 AM (First Friday of the month!)
Who: Kids of all ages
How: Bring your own towl or mat. Parents invited to join in!

Gather and learn basic decorating skills on cake, cupcakes, cookies and other sweet treats with themes corresponding to the next holiday or season!
Where: Cakorating: 602 Creek #103 (at Walnut) in New Braunfels 
When: 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM (Meetings are the 1st Saturday of each month)
Who: Kids Cake Club is for kids, ages 6-11

Tuesday, June 5 through Tuesday, June 5 - Art on the Beach

This monthly event will introduce you to local artists who will show and sell their artwork. Each month we will feature different kinds of art including paintings, sculptures, jewelry and photography just to name a few. There is a kids activity area and painting classes for adults.
Where: 6700 North IH 35, New Braunfels
When: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Who: Open to the public
How: Just show up
Cost: During this event a portion of sales from our new Wahoo's restaurant, board shop or any rentals will benefit a local non profit organization. Come out and support your local community.

Thursday, August 9 through Thursday, August 9 - MOPS New Braunfels

As fellow mothers of young children, we have to stick together!  MOPS exists to encourage, equip, and develop every mother of preschoolers to realize her potential as a woman, mother, and leader in the name of Jesus Christ. 
Where: First United Methodist Church: 572 W. San Antonio, New Braunfels
When: 6:15 PM - 8:30 PM
Who: Moms with kids 0-6. Child care is provided (based on RSVP), but the meeting is for moms only.
How: Just show up. However, if you'd like child care, and RSVP is required (tlmechler@hotmail.com)
Cost: $6/meeting + $23.95 annual international dues (your first meeting is free!)

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) New Braunfels
